OPEN YOUR MOUTH FOR THE SPEECHLES

By Carla Guachalla

Very recently I started reading a booklet where a compilation of several articles from Christian authors talk about abortion and it really impacted me. I knew what was happening, but not to such extent. In this article, I will quote several of the authors so you can see a little of what they discuss. I can’t say it better than them, but I hope this article encourages you to read the resource and calls you to action when it comes to defending the lives of those who have no voice. This booklet is by Portavoz de la Gracia N°27, titled: “The abortion”.

Day by day things are deteriorating, people no longer have the natural affection they once had, not even for their own family. Secular societies seek to get rid of all designs and commands of God, and this has not been happening only recently, but has been getting worse over time. People have begun to attribute power to themselves that is not theirs, since life and death depend on a divine being that is certainly not us.

We live in a society in which people pretend to seek the “well-being” of others when in reality they make decisions selfishly seeking what they believe is best for themselves. And unfortunately we have reached the point where we now seek to allow women to freely decide whether or not to kill their baby, when the correct decision is clear.

Doctors, mothers, governments, willing to find a way to “interrupt a pregnancy,” end up torturing a baby because of course, “my body, my choice.” Abortive methods, poorly performed, have resulted in babies being born alive after having been practically tortured and beyond that, and in some cases, there is a record of doctors who have murdered these small newborns by cutting their spinal cord. They use such horrifying methods to end the life of that baby that one wonders, how far can these people go? Are these things really happening?

Later down the road, what will be the difference between killing an unborn baby and a being of two or more years of life? This idea may seem far-fetched but in 2012, philosophers Francesca Minerva, together with Alberto Giubilini, published an article titled ‘After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?’. In it they practically argue in favor of infanticide, trying to disguise it with other terms:

“On these grounds, the fact that a fetus has the potential to become a person who will have an (at least) acceptable life is no reason for prohibiting abortion. Therefore, we argue that, when circumstances occur after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible.

In spite of the oxymoron in the expression, we propose to call this practice ‘after-birth abortion’, rather than ‘infanticide’, to emphasise that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus (on which ‘abortions’ in the traditional sense are performed) rather than to that of a child. Therefore, we claim that killing a newborn could be ethically permissible in all the circumstances where abortion would be. Such circumstances include cases where the newborn has the potential to have an (at least) acceptable life, but the well-being of the family is at risk.”

The very idea should worry us because if this does not stop where it should stop, what extremes will we go to?

It is not without reason that this practice has been described as “The Silent Holocaust” by John Powell, because: Do you know how many Jews died in the Holocaust? 6 millions. Do you know how many babies die every year from induced abortions? According to data taken from the WHO (World Health Organization), approximately 73 million around the world.

Yes, millions of children have died because people do not want to take responsibility for them, disguising it with the idea that “every child should be a wanted child.” So if it’s unwanted we should just get rid of it? So if it is a being that “is going to suffer”, would it be better to kill it now? Trying to avoid the “future abuse” they say they will suffer, they make themselves guilty of the abuse the baby suffers in the present. We are talking about a life, about a little one who was created in the image and likeness of God. Supporting abortion is a terrible mistake and this in the eyes of God is something abominable.

Peter Barnes wrote the following about it:

“Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the Lutheran pastor whom Hitler had hanged in 1945, spoke out as strongly against abortion as he did against Nazism. His opinions are worth mentioning: “The destruction of an embryo in the womb of its mother is a violation of the right to live that God has granted to incipient life. To ask whether or not this case is a human being is to distort the matter. The reality is that God’s intention was indeed to create a human being and that this nascent human being has been deliberately denied life. And this is nothing less than MURDER.” Beginning in 1933, as the Nazi persecution of the Jews gained momentum, Bonhoeffer clearly perceived the duty of the Christian. He turned to the Word of God and was often in his lips Proverbs 31:8 “Open your mouth for the mute.” This same duty corresponds to the Christian in our days in which abortion is increasingly practiced and accepted.”

As Christians we are called to act, because this practice goes against what the Word itself teaches us. The commandment is clear, “Thou shalt NOT KILL” and this commandment has very interesting implications, I quote R.C. Sproul: “The law not only prohibits certain negative behaviors and attitudes, but also, by implication, requires certain positive behaviors and attitudes. […] On the one hand, we must avoid all those things that are part of the general definition of homicide; but, on the other hand, we are also commanded in a positive way to strive to save, improve and care for life.” Brother, sister, “OPEN YOUR MOUTH FOR THE SPEECHLESS.”

If for any reason this article reaches the hands of those who have engaged in this practice, it remains to be said, repent and run to Christ. There is no sin so great for which it can be said that there is no hope for you, you can run to Him and be sure that the need you have to be saved from the sin that plagues you day after day will be satisfied. There is still hope for salvation and redemption. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

And if you are someone who has not engaged in this practice, but does not have the conviction to act against it, keep the following in mind: there are not only 73 million babies who die each year from induced abortions but there are also 73 million women who have “decided” to kill their own babies in their wombs, which means that thousands of doctors have carried out this practice and governments have allowed it. Whether it has been legal or illegal, by not doing anything against it families and fathers have also become accomplices… And we can continue with this endless list of how many people are in fact involved.

Do you realize the need for all of them to be warned?

They need to see how horrible this practice is, what it really entails and that not only are they being complicit in a murder but they are going directly against God. Seek to be one of those people who speaks for those who are speechless.
